This work engulfs the viewer into a poignant world of empathy and connection, utilizing imagery of fire to convey these intense feelings. Through collaboration, this work uses the lived experiences of both the choreographer and dancers as kinesthetic research to further the narrative. While it may seem heavy at times, this piece reminds us how beautiful and human it is to feel.

As a young woman in my 20s, I constantly feel as though I am racing against time to achieve all my desires before I reach “the end of my prime.” There is a constant yearning, a deep longing, that my 20s must leave a drastic impression on my life. I am greatly inspired by these thoughts, especially after reading Sylvia Plath’s incredible novel titled “The Bell Jar" and her metaphor of the fig tree. This reflective, melancholic piece is meant to offer comfort to anyone struggling with the weight of choice, reminding them that they are not alone in the uncertainty, the longing, or the pressure to decide who they are meant to become.

This duet derives from Paula’s experience as a woman in Latin America and Gianna’s desire to uplift the movement by utilizing research and collaborating with Paula’s perspicacity. Ni Una Menos (Not One (Woman) Less) is a feminist movement born in Argentina, now present in most Latin American countries, out of the frustration of gender-based violence and murder.
